Roger Federer set for ATP Tour return at Swiss Indoors in October

Roger Federer is expected to play at home in Switzerland in October.

Federer has a record of 10 titles in Basel, has not lost a game here since 2013, and has won his last 103 titles in 2019.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion, who has not played since Wimbledon in July 2021, underwent knee surgery later this year.

The 40-year-old also plans to represent Europe at the Laver Cup in London in September.

A statement from the tournament said Federer was in the nine-player protected tennis category.

He will play his first game on Tuesday, October 25th.

The race, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic, was held for the first time since 2019 and will start on October 24th.

Nadal wants to return to Madrid

Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal will play in the Madrid Open next week after suffering a rib injury.

The 35-year-old has won the Australian Open earlier this year. He was injured when he defeated his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz. It was in the semi-finals at Indian Wells on March 20.

Nadal lost to Taylor Fritz the next day and missed the final for four to six weeks on March 22nd.

Nadal said on his social media accounts: “I really want to play at a home where I have few opportunities, even though I’m close and the preparations are difficult.”

“Then I’ll do my best. See you in Madrid.”

The return of the Grand Slam champion 21 times comes before the French Open and the opening of a record of 13 tournaments in Paris on May 22nd.
