Premiership: Bath 27-24 London Irish – Orlando Bailey seal’s late victory
Orlando’s last penalty prevented Billy Bass from reaching the bottom of the Premier League after Ireland beat London 27-24.
The first half was spectacular, with both teams winning three times in five attempts on goal by Augustine Caribbean to lead the 17-14 goals with the final suspended.
Creevy’s second goal came shortly after the half. However, Pele’s penalty and Wilmore’s experience were equalized 15 minutes into the game.
However, Billy kept his composure with four minutes left to score four points.
The win means that Bath are three points ahead of Wester and are level with 11th-placed Newcastle after their home loss to leaders Leicester.
Bath let Charlie Ewels miss a late stop in the sixth minute, Ben Lauder hit a corner two minutes later and Nick Pips missed a second attempt shortly afterwards.
Kyle Rowe made the Irishman’s second attempt in the middle of the gap and turned from the gap before returning himself with a one-second shot.
But Bath turned the game around with two tries in minutes. Mike Williams went too far before Taulupe Faletau kicked in and defeated Ben Spencer to make it 14-10.
Two close-range attempts by Crave during the timeout gave the Irish a 22-14 lead before keeping a kick in Max Clark for his eighth attempt this season.
Bailey received a second penalty, but not before seeing Irishman Matt Cornish force a penalty two yards from the penalty line in the closing moments.
