Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne named 2021-22 Premier League player of the season
Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne has been named Premier League Player of the Year for the 2021/22 season. Whereas, team-mate Phil Foden has been named Young Player of the Year.
The Belgian midfielder de Bruyne scored 15 goals and provided seven assists. He helped Manchester City top the table in the final round of Sunday.
“Winning this award for the second time is an achievement that I am really proud of,” he said.
The 21-year-old Puden has become the first player to win an award in consecutive seasons.
De Bruyne also picked up the honor by joining Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo and Nemanja Vidic more than once in the 2019-20 season.
“There are so many good players in the Premier League. Also, I’m happy to be cash alongside so many great players. They have had a great season at the club,” said De Bruyne.
“I think I did well this season and I’m happy to be able to contribute goals and assists throughout the season.”
Puden received the most votes from the public and the Premier League committee, waving the Young Players Cup for the second time.
The England international scored nine goals and provided five assists this season.
Foden has beaten Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, Palace defender Trek Mitchell, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, Arsenal duo Arun Ramsdale and midfielder Saka Westham Derek. Alexander-Arnold and Crystal Palace on loan from Crane Rice. Receive a minor award.
“I’m proud to win for the second time in a row,” he said.
“I am very happy with my performance this season. Also, I am happy to contribute to this team as we look forward to another successful year.
“It’s an honour to be a candidate alongside so many great players. Players who have all had great seasons at the club.”
It could help De Bruyne and Puden City defend their Premier League title in Sunday’s game they host Aston Villa. If their team leads home rivals Liverpool against Wall in the last game and the Rampton Wonders lead by one point.
