ICC Challenge League B: Jersey beat leaders Uganda by 62 runs

Jersey won 62 rounds at Kampala, losing for the first time to second-division league leader Uganda.

Opener Nick Greenwood confidently started after losing the toss, hitting 80 off 93 balls.

Josh Lawrence scored 43 as the Islanders finished with a 255-6 run.

Uganda opener Simon Ssesazi 50 runs and Ronak Patel scored 64. However, Dominic Blampied’s helped Jersey restrict teammates to 5-18. Also, the home team finished with 193 runs.

The win leaves Jersey in third place out of six teams. Whereas, Uganda remains in the lead after winning five of its 2019 first-round picks.

The winners of the team will play against the winners of the Challenge A Cricket Championship in the ICC 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Ssesazi The hobo dropped from 93 to 80 in 30 catches after dropping in the first four balls and hitting sixths and fourths.

Jersey’s success was bolstered by a few laps, but Chazy overtook Josh Lawrence, who was relegated to 43 points in a 174-3 run.

Dominique Blampied went up 25 to 19, Johnny Jenner made 22 quick innings, and Jersey improved his batting to 255-6.

Anthony Hawkins-Kay removed Uganda opener Emmanuel Hasahya for three in the fourth over. However, Ssesazi and Patel put on 80 for the second wicket before Julius Sumerauer bowled Ssesazi.

Uganda lost two more quick goals before Patel and Fred Achelam climbed onto the fifth podium with 45 shots – but the home side won when Blampied stole the ball and hope was dashed.

Jersey Spinner took three more scalps to finish 5-18 off five overs, while Uganda threw 193 in 45.2 overs.
