Arsenal transfer target’s most likely destinations are Tottenham and Manchester City.

According to a French newspaper, Tottenham or Manchester City would be the midfielder’s most likely destination since the Brazilian has no interest in joining Newcastle United or Arsenal this summer.

And according to L’Equipe, Tottenham has already had one deal for the midfielder rejected after having their 40 million euro offer rejected in January as they sought to add players during the winter transfer window. They are still looking for an attacking midfielder, and Paqueta, who scored eight goals and collected six assists in a poor season for the French team, is one of their top targets.

The Brazilian requested to leave Lyon this summer and refused to start talks regarding a new contract, despite the fact that his present agreement expires in 2025.

According to CBS Sports, Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas is not believed to be set on holding out for quite as much, and will instead sell for a knockdown sum, despite earlier suggestions that it would take a fee of around 80 million euros (£70 million) for the Ligue 1 side to part ways with their talismanic figure.

If that price is reached, the French club won’t stand in the 24-year-way, old’s and naturally, there will be optimism on the side of the interested parties that they can negotiate the sum down below the £50 million threshold.

While L’Equipe claims that the Brazilian has already rejected Arsenal, the club’s transfer director Edu Gaspar has previously stated that no negotiations have taken place between the Gunners and Paqueta’s representatives. He added that “as of today, the reality is that there’s not even a conversation to sign him.” Nothing is present.

Do you have Manchester City waiting for you?

Paqueta might not be interested in joining Arsenal or Newcastle United, but according to the French site, Manchester City is ready to step in should they need to replace Bernardo Silva because the midfielder is “crazy” with the thought of playing for Barcelona.

If such a move were to take place, Pep Guardiola might approach the Brazilian player, but for the time being, Frenkie de Jong’s choice to stay at Barcelona rather than move to Manchester United might stop the dominoes from falling.
