Former UK top-ranked Andy Murray has confirmed he will start his grass-court season and preparations for Wimbledon in the Surbiton in May before playing for Queens in June.

Marie announced on Monday that he will miss the French Open as he prepares for the summer.

Instead, the Scot will lead the match at Surbiton on May 29, while Murray is only 17 in the Challenger round in England for the first time since 2004.

Later this summer he will join the Queen’s Club, where he has won five singles titles and set a double cup record with veteran Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in 2019.

In the meantime, he will also go to Germany for the first time to participate in the Stuttgart Open Championship.

Ahead of the upcoming grass event, the three-time Grand Slam champion said he expects to play in front of the fans again.

“I look forward to playing Surbiton and Queens this year – two great games,” Murray said. “Playing in front of a local audience is always special.”

Andy Murray will not be the only one at the Queen’s Club when he joins the rankings.

England’s No. 1 seed and vice-champion Cameron Nuri will play alongside compatriots Dan Evans and Jack Draper in Queens.

The young Spanish star and Madrid Masters champion Carlos Alcaraz and defending champion Matteo Berrettini also took part in the Queen’s draw.

In addition, the UK was strong in the doubles draw with Joe Salisbury number 1 in the world and Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski.

“Seeing so many outstanding British players in the game underscores the progress our sport has made in recent years,” said Leon Smith, president of the Tennis Association’s men’s tennis team.

“It’s great to see a lot of them on the grass at summer events.”
